Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

  • The Advanced Customer Engagement (ACE) / National Key Account Director (NKAD) Team Lead is an integral member of the US Specialty Care National Key Account Management Leadership Team, leading a combined customer-facing and engagement team accountable for delivering Specialty Care business unit goals with the most complex national and aligned strategic customers.
  • This leader sets the strategic, analytical, and operational vision for their portion of the Specialty Care National Key Account organization, with a focus on commercial excellence, advanced customer engagement, partner collaboration, and effectiveness.
  • The Team Lead provides direct leadership to a team of five (4) direct reports — (2) National Key Account Directors (NKADs), and two (2) Advanced Customer Engagement (ACE) Directors — ensuring integrated account planning and disciplined execution across aligned customers and Supergroups.
  • This role reports to the Specialty Care KAM lead who reports to the Specialty Care CEP Lead, David Terranova, and partners closely with that VP to ensure effective development and execution of the strategic operating plan and business unit priorities.

Key Role Dimensions

  • Span of Control: The selected candidate will lead a team of three (3) National Key Account Directors (NKADs), and two (2) Advanced Customer Engagement (ACE) Directors.
  • The role integrates two capabilities: customer-facing national key account management (NKADs) and advanced customer engagement (ACE Directors) who develop patient-focused solutions and accelerate engagements at key aligned accounts and Supergroups.
  • This position serves as the link between Pfizer HQ partners and the customer-facing and engagement teams, actively leading efforts to identify, prioritize, and coordinate high-impact initiatives and to develop action plans as appropriate.
  • The Team Lead is a key partner to the VP, Specialty Care National Key Account Team Lead and other senior leaders in maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to gain alignment and engaging as an active member of the Specialty Care CEP leadership team.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Insights & Organizational Leadership

  • Generate insights on the business that inform priorities for the Specialty Care National Key Account organization.
  • Lead strategic, operational, and portfolio activities across the aligned Specialty Care national key account customers and Supergroups.
  • Assess and understand medium- and long-term healthcare issues and customer drivers shaping account activity, including policy implications, and translate them into prioritized opportunities.
  • Identify and share lessons learned from successes and failures with US Leadership and cross-functional partners to shape ongoing business unit strategy.
  • Contribute to resource allocation decisions and coordinate cross-brand operational matters (e.g., national/POA meetings, training, compliance, and business technology) as they affect the team.

Advanced Customer Engagement

  • Lead the ACE Directors to accelerate and optimize customer engagement that drives incremental value for the customer, Pfizer, and the patient within the Integrated Account Team (IAT) process.
  • Ensure ACE Directors collaborate with marketing colleagues, MG-IDN partners, and agency partners to develop solutions that support mutually aligned goals for the customer and Pfizer.
  • Guide the team in developing optimal plans for implementing, communicating, and improving patient care aligned to appropriate goals, KPIs, and customer capabilities.
  • Drive operational excellence of Specialty Care engagement with key accounts, including IAT materials, account planning, and tools to compliantly discuss and highlight IAT impact within aligned accounts.
  • Ensure progress toward customer goals is monitored and plans are adjusted so that impact is established and sustained, and champion best practices on the use of Brand and RCM resources across the team.

National Key Account Leadership & Commercial Priorities

  • Lead the National Key Account Directors (NKADs) to deliver targeted business outcomes for the Specialty Care portfolio across a complex set of customer channels, including national health systems and member organizations.
  • Engage, understand, and partner with prioritized national customers and stakeholders to meet customer needs and create net revenue for Pfizer.
  • Effectively manage the performance and development of the NKAD and ACE Director teams by providing clear direction, prioritization, coaching, and development feedback.
  • Conduct business reviews, set challenging performance objectives, and lead projects across functional teams including marketing, sales leadership, access, commercial effectiveness, and medical as needed.
  • Lead culture initiatives in alignment with Pfizer's mission and vision, and manage award/recognition planning, administration, and execution as applicable.

Performance Management & Collaboration

  • Lead business-critical projects and initiatives and provide support to remove roadblocks, focusing on continuous improvement to enhance key account management effectiveness.
  • Model and drive productive collaboration among customer-facing roles, engagement roles, regions, and teams.
  • Align and collaborate with key account management leadership from other Pfizer business units to scale capabilities and maximize results for Pfizer Inc.
  • Model and drive productive collaboration with functional partners, including US Market Access, Government Affairs, Legal & Compliance, Medical, Commercial Effectiveness, and Brand Marketing.
  • Liaise with Legal, Compliance, and Governance on processes and issues, and provide both direct and indirect leadership.

Market Knowledge

  • Maintain strong knowledge of the evolving healthcare industry landscape, including quality measures, HIT, healthcare reform, payers, and the interactions and interdependencies between healthcare stakeholders.
  • Analyze organizational metrics, data, and market dynamics to develop and prioritize opportunities and formulate business plans.
  • Use this knowledge to keep the national key account and engagement teams focused on appropriate, high-impact activities and to demonstrate subject-matter expertise in prioritized therapeutic areas.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 12 years of experience in US pharmaceutical/biotech in sales, key account management, and/or HQ functions (e.g., strategy, commercial effectiveness, marketing), with demonstrated success working collaboratively across the organization.
  • Leadership experience required, including demonstrated success managing a team of diverse colleagues across multiple disciplines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Extensive experience in health system, MG, IDN sales, account management, or other customer-facing roles, with proven ability to develop insights, strategy, and tactical plans.
  • Ability to develop and motivate others and lead through change, with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate across Pfizer to achieve BU objectives.
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders and competent in developing senior leadership presentations.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and strong project and program management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid US driver's license and driving record in compliance with company standards. Any DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citation within the past 7 years will disqualify a candidate from being hired.
  • Ability to travel overnight based on business requirements for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred.
  • Greater than 5 years of experience in operations, analytics, strategy, marketing, and/or leading organizational strategy.
  • Prior local and/or in-line marketing experience with a strong history of achievement and performance.
  • Breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, and oversee and guide teams.
  • Experience leading teams focused on large organized customers such as Health & Hospital Systems (e.g., Ascension, Optum) and key member organizations (e.g., Premier, AMGA, American College of Physicians).

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements

  • Position will require significant travel (>30%) due to combined HQ, engagement, and customer-facing responsibilities

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $254,100.00 to $423,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
