ACE-Community Education Instructional Assistant

I. General Description:

Assists in providing a well organized and smooth functioning before/after school program.

II. Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent; or current and continuous enrollment in high school or a high school equivalency class; or a vocational education or occupational development program
2. 16 years of age or older
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
5. Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
6. Must be able to pass a background check upon employment

III. Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists in daily operation of the program to meet licensing, fire and sanitation requirements.
2. Assists in planning activities.
3. Prepares materials (i.e. copying) for program activities.
4. Assists in maintaining program discipline as directed.
5. Assists with set up and clean up of programs and activities.
6. Assists the instructor in working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce material and skills as directed.
7. Participates in-service training as directed.
8. Takes appropriate precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities according to District Policy.
9. Models appropriate adult behavior to students.
10. Models appropriate dress, grooming, and cleanliness.
11. Communicates with students, parents, staff and administration.
12. Follows administrative regulations of the school and the district.
13. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records required by law as directed.
14. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Reports to: Community Education Director and Assigned Site Manager

Calendar: 10 Months; Assignment location may vary based on staffing needs.
