Job Description

Niemann Ace Hardware is a well-established local hardware store that offers a wide range of products to help customers with their home improvement projects, DIY tasks, and maintenance needs. We take pride in providing exceptional customer service and high-quality products to our community.

We are seeking a motivated, customer-focused individual to join our team for the busy seasonal period. As a Seasonal Hardware Store Associate, you will assist customers with their hardware needs, stock shelves, and maintain a clean and organized store. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for home improvement and DIY projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide knowledgeable advice on hardware, tools, and home improvement products.
  • Assist with product selection and provide recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Stock shelves and maintain product displays to ensure the store is well-organized.
  • Perform regular inventory checks and assist in product ordering.
  • Ensure the store is clean, organized, and safe for customers and employees.
  • Operate cash register and process transactions accurately.
  • Assist with any other duties as needed

KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of hardware products, tools, and home improvement projects preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· Some hardware knowledge

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence

· Present information and respond to questions from customers or associates

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

· Basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)

It was 1917 when Ferd Niemann, Sr. and Steve Niemann opened their first grocery store. It took a lot of hard work and progressive thinking, but they succeeded. By 1930, they were operating 10 corner grocery stores and a thriving wholesale business. In 1940 Niemann Foods, Inc. introduced the first full service supermarket to Quincy, Illinois.
