GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position supports Wyoming’s accreditation team and accreditation processes by collaborating on school improvement initiatives as required by W.S. 21-2-304(a)(i) and coordinating staff certification reviews in accordance with W.S. 21-7-303. The position works closely with the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and reviews annual accreditation submissions for alignment with applicable statutes and rules. As the state contact for the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), this position provides guidance and support to school districts in strengthening intervention strategies and improving student outcomes. The position also ensures compliance with Chapter 3 rules and W.S. 21-2-304(a)(iii) related to graduation requirements. Additionally, the position participates in peer reviews, providing constructive feedback and technical assistance to strengthen school capacity, promote continuous improvement, and support positive student outcomes while ensuring compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Collaborates with school districts and schools identified as “accredited with support” to provide technical assistance related to school improvement initiatives
  • Coordinates annual staff certification reviews and collaborates with the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) to verify compliance with applicable statutory and accreditation requirements
  • Reviews annual accreditation submissions, analyzes district evidence, and prepares reports and recommendations for the Wyoming State Board of Education
  • Serves as the primary state contact for Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), supports statewide implementation, and provides guidance to districts in mathematics and literacy
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to school districts regarding state graduation requirements and compliance with applicable statutes and rules
  • Participates as a WDE peer reviewer by evaluating district submissions and evidence and providing feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for Gifted and Talented Education and provides guidance and technical assistance to districts and stakeholders
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders through oral and written communication and provides professional customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance accreditation, continuous improvement, and statewide educational quality

Examples of duties

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with experience as a classroom teacher or school administrator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITES:

  • Knowledge of commonly used office software and communication technologies
  • Knowledge of customer service skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Education)

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.

  • Typical office environment.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Exempt
  • Successful applicants must reside in Wyoming or maintain a primary residence within a 100-mile radius of Cheyenne for the duration of their employment with the Wyoming Department of Education
  • Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant coursework at the time of the interview or hire
  • Successful candidates must pass a fingerprinting, background, and reference check
