Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist (full-time, permanent) to support the Finance department based out of our Edmonton, AB location.

The Accounts Payable Specialist (full-time, permanent) is a vital member of the Accounts Payable team and will be responsible for analyzing, processing, and improving the company's payable's function. This role requires an individual with strong analytical and communication skills who will identify and resolve discrepancies. In addition, they are responsible for promoting the Forbes safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, Forbes policy, internal controls, and practices, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
• Receive, review, verify, and process invoices accurately and timely
• Troubleshoot complex or escalated issues related to invoices or payments
• Resolve discrepancies between invoices, POs, and receipts
• Prepare, prioritize and process weekly, biweekly, or ad hoc payment runs (checks, EFT, ACH, wire transfers)
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounts payable processes and assist in implementing new systems
• Manage vendor relationships - set up and maintain details in ERP adhering to internal security processes, develop strong relationships and respond professionally to inquiries
• Exercise professionalism and discretion when processing confidential or sensitive materials
• Obtain a deep understanding of Forbes expense coding to identify transactional errors
• Assist in regulatory audits and annual audit process
• Other accounts payable related functions assigned

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, is required
• Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of related accounting experience is required handling a high volume of complex invoices, is required
• Knowledge of accounting principles and computerized accounting systems
• Experience in the Construction industry is an asset
• Experience or exposure working with foreign currencies, an asset
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, IF Functions)
• Knowledge of Viewpoint/ Trimble systems, an asset
• Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
• Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong time management and organizational skills
• Able and willing to work extended hours of work as required to meet various deadlines as needed
