Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Services, this role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a general Accounts Payable function while also learning and assisting in the fuel payable process.

As a member of the Accounts Payable team, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing accounts payable for MacEwen Petroleum Inc. and its subsidiaries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process invoices: sort, obtain approval for payment, match, code and allocate payment accordingly.
  • Research discrepancies or missing documentation to ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner.
  • Enter and upload invoices and expenses into accounting software.
  • Establish new vendors in the accounting software.
  • Process and distribute the monthly vendor statements.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries.
  • Assist in the month-end process.
  • Process cheque runs on a weekly basis.
  • Reconciliation of complex vendor statements.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • 2+ years' experience in an accounts payable.
  • A post-secondary education, preferably in Commerce, Business Administration, or Accounting is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of a range of accounting systems and ability to demonstrate competency in their usage.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in the use of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Provide team support and willing to assist and provide back-up for colleagues, when required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities successfully, while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and accurately with a large volume of payables.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and sound business judgement.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
