Job Description

The Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk is responsible for accurately processing vendor invoices, issuing payments, and maintaining proper financial records related to accounts payable. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely payments and supporting the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

This role is based out of our Roanoke, VA office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review, verify, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system

• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation to ensure accuracy

• Route invoices for appropriate approval in accordance with company policy

• Prepare and process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers

• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies or payment issues

• Maintain accurate and organized AP files and records

• Respond to vendor inquiries in a professional and timely manner

• Assist with month-end close by preparing AP accruals and reports

• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation

• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred

• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting

• Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar ERP platforms)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Effective communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• Problem-solving skills and ability to handle account discrepancies with professionalism
