Accounts Payable Assistant
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Bermuda
The successful applicant will assist with accounts payable activities and to provide general support to the Finance Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare internal and external reports, specifically including GAAP financial statements, board reports, and management accounts.
- Receive, validate, and coordinate supplier invoices including supplier statement reconciliations.
- Accurately input valid invoices into the AP system according to agreed processing timelines.
- Assist with monitoring and tracking the approval of invoices.
- Assist with preparing and coordinating payment of all approved invoices, claims, and transfers.
- Prepare cash books and bank reconciliations and monitor bank activities.
- Assist with reconciling cash receipts in the underwriting system.
- Assist with preparing prepayments and accruals for month end reporting.
- Assist with maintaining the fixed assets register.
- Support the preparation of management accounts as required.
- Attend and actively in team meetings .
- As required, assist with ad hoc projects and research work to support the finance team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- High School completion is required, an Associate’s degree would be advantageous.
- No formal accounting qualification required, but relevant experience is preferable.
- Progress towards obtaining an accounting designation will be encouraged and supported.
- Previous experience with Great Plains would be an asset.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications and good Excel skills are required.
- Strong interpersonal and teaming skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and flexibility to work beyond regular office hours as needed to meet business demands.
