Job Description

Accounts Officer – Medicolegal

Melbourne VIC | Permanent Part-Time – 20 hours per week

  • Permanent part-time role – approximately 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday
  • Join a growing national medicolegal business
  • Hands-on accounts role with genuine ownership and variety

About RediMedicoLegal

RediMedicoLegal (RML) is RediMed’s specialist medicolegal business, providing independent medical assessments and expert reports to insurers, employers, legal firms and other organisations across Australia.

As RML continues to grow nationally, we are looking for an experienced Accounts Officer to join our team and help keep our financial operations accurate, responsive and running smoothly.

This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving discrepancies and keeping things moving - someone who is just as comfortable reconciling payments as they are following up a client query or working with internal teams to resolve an issue.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager and Operations Manager – Victoria, you will provide consistent weekday support across the RML accounts function.

Your primary focus will be on accounts receivable, payment and remittance reconciliation, debtor management and client accounts support, while also building the knowledge to provide broader Accounts Officer coverage when required.

You’ll work closely with Finance, Client Services, Operations and our Medical Expert team, so this is not a back-office role where you work in isolation. Clear communication, good judgement and a willingness to follow things through are just as important as technical accounts capability.

You will play an important role in:

  • keeping incoming payments and client accounts accurately reconciled;
  • maintaining a well-managed debtor ledger and following up outstanding items;
  • resolving routine invoice, payment and account queries;
  • supporting accurate invoicing, reconciliations and specialist payments;
  • maintaining reliable accounts information across Xero and our internal systems; and
  • providing broader accounts support and coverage as business needs change.

As the business grows, there will also be opportunities to contribute to process improvement, system enhancements and better ways of working across the finance function.

About You

We are looking for someone with solid transactional accounts experience who is accurate, organised and comfortable working independently.

You will ideally have:

  • at least 2 years’ experience in an Accounts Officer, Accounts Receivable or similar finance role;
  • practical experience with reconciliations, payment allocation and debtor management;
  • strong working knowledge of Xero preferred;
  • good Microsoft Excel skills;
  • excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy;
  • confidence investigating discrepancies and resolving routine issues;
  • strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • the ability to manage competing priorities without losing follow-through.

Experience within insurance, legal, healthcare, medicolegal or professional services would be highly regarded, but is not essential.

A relevant accounting or finance qualification is desirable, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Hours and Flexibility

This is currently a permanent part-time position of 20 hours per week, ideally worked as approximately 4 hours per day across Monday to Friday to provide consistent weekday accounts coverage.

The role is based in Melbourne, with hybrid working arrangements available where appropriate.

Why Join RML?

RML is in a strong period of national growth, with continued investment in our people, systems and technology.

You’ll join a collaborative team, with excellent culture, in a role where you can genuinely take ownership of your work, build a broad understanding of the business and contribute to improving the way our accounts function operates as we grow.

If you are an experienced Accounts Officer looking for a flexible part-time role with variety, autonomy and a supportive team environment, we would love to hear from you.
