Join our team as an Accounts Assistant!

Are you looking to develop your finance career within a varied and dynamic organisation? We're looking for an organised and enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team.

This permanent role plays a key part in supporting the smooth and accurate operation of our finance function across our racing, hospitality and wider business operations. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you'll ensure financial information is processed accurately and on time, while helping to maintain strong financial controls and delivering excellent support to both internal teams and external suppliers.

General Responsibilities include:

  • Process supplier invoices and maintain the purchase ledger, including invoice posting and supplier statement reconciliations

  • Support supplier queries and provide general purchase ledger administration

  • Prepare KPI reporting, including gas, electricity and water data, within agreed deadlines

  • Reconcile credit card statements, post journals and verify supporting documentation

  • Support the processing and checking of employee expenses, liaising with Payroll and People teams where required

  • Post hotel income and payment journals, completing associated bank reconciliations and PDQ transactions

  • Reconcile Musselburgh income, process Race day pay-ins and maintain petty cash records

  • Process HBLB and Weatherbys invoices across multiple racecourses and reconcile supplier statements

  • Support cash office processes by posting journals and assisting with banking and reconciliations

  • Provide ad hoc support to the wider Finance Team, particularly during busy trading and Race day periods

Essential criteria:

  • Experience working in a Finance or Accounts Assistant role

  • Experience processing purchase ledger transactions, journals, completing bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with colleagues and suppliers

  • Good Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups

  • A willingness to embrace AI and automation tools to improve finance processes

Desirable criteria:

  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT (or equivalent practical experience)

  • Experience working in a multi-site or multi-division business, ideally within hospitality, leisure or events

  • Previous experience using finance systems such as Oracle NetSuite, Sage or similar

  • Experience handling cash office or PDQ processes

What we offer:

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Hours of work:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

CRC is an event company, and there may be occasional requirements to support during weekends or evenings at busy Race day or event periods. Any work beyond contracted hours will be eligible for time off in lieu.

CRC has a flexible approach to working hours, which should be agreed with your line manager.
