Are you ready to be part of a dynamic fiscal team? Consider working as an Accounting Technician for the Nevada County Auditor Controller’s Office! Accounting Technicians are an integral part of the Auditor Controller’s team, whose mission is to safeguard Nevada County fiscal resources with a commitment to accuracy, integrity, transparency, and service by creating and maintaining internal controls. This is an experienced level position in which individuals perform a variety of vital activities that include but are not limited to:

  • Receive, review, verify and process accounting transactions by reviewing claims, invoices, and associated documents for completeness.
  • Prepare vouchers for payment.
  • Provide support in the development of department’s budget and maintain accurate accounting of department expenditures.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries and reports.
  • Provide administrative support for the office including customer service for internal and external customers in person, via phone, mail, and email.
  • Work with multiple software platforms for accounting, recordkeeping and document routing.
  • Compile and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.

Supplemental information

  • Completion of twelfth grade or possession of a GED AND at least two years of experience at the level equivalent of Nevada County-s classification of Senior Accounting Assistant.
  • Alternately, possession of an Associate degree from an accredited college or university, in accounting, business or related field, plus one year of experience at the level equivalent of Nevada County's classification of Senior Accounting Assistant is equivalent.
  • A candidate with a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related degree from an accredited college or university is qualifying.
