Accounting Technician – Full Time

Hiring Range: $20.07 - $24.58 hourly

General Summary of Duties To process vendor invoices for payment and maintain related records. To improve the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission. To provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Major Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Process invoices from vendors for payment following accounting departmentprocedures. Maintain accounts payable files.
  • Ensure proper cost allocations todepartments using chart ofaccounts, expense definitions and budget information.
  • Processpaymentsinatimelymannerto ensurethatlatechargesarenotimposed.Prepare invoicesforpayment onaweeklybasis.Ensure proper supporting documentation is saved in the appropriate location.
  • Follow up with approvers to make sure that all invoices are approved and processed in a timely manner.
  • Assistincompilinginformationfortheannual audit.
  • Use ingenuity in improvingprocesses tofacilitate agency goals.
  • Updateproceduremanualwhenachangetakes place.
  • Providetrainingforindividualsmanagingagencypettycash accounts. Work with them to record necessary petty cash replenishments and counts in accordance with our petty cash policy.
  • Process end of month invoices in a timely manner and record invoices in the accurate fiscal period for month end closing
  • Maintain records in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and our company retention policy.

Minimum QualificationsHighschool diploma orGED.Two years ofaccounting coursesorrelevantexperiencepreferred.Abilityto workindependentlywithminimum supervision.Experiencewithorknowledgeofaccrualaccountingand payables.Integrated computerandExcelexperience desired.Abilitytoutilizecreativeproblem­ solving methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Intermediate (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)

Experience using UKG.

  • Local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • General ledger posting process and experience preparing and posting journal entries
