The Department of Corrections, Division of Health and Rehabilitative Services, is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 1 located in Anchorage, Alaska.
This Position is an important part of the Accounting/Finance Team. It is mainly responsible for reviewing, reconciling and certifying card transactions. You will act as a back-up for various financial documents ensuring transactions are processed in compliance with the Alaska statutes, Alaska Administrative Code, Alaska Administrative Manual, the Accounting Procedures Manual, department policies and procedures, and union bargaining unit agreements.
The Division of Administrative Services provides essential administrative support to the operations of the Department in support of its mission to provide secure confinement, reformative programs, and a process of supervised community integration to enhance the safety of our communities.

Our office is located in the Douglas Island Building with ample parking and short walk to Savikko Park, Sandy Beach, and the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail. The work environment is collaborative and customer service oriented, with our Accounting/Finance Team working as a tight knit group that values each other's contributions.
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
