As an Accounting Supervisor (Property Accounting), you will lead a team of accounting professionals while driving operational efficiency, strengthening financial controls, and delivering high-quality financial reporting. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the accurate accumulation, recording, and analysis of financial transactions, with a strong emphasis on property accounting and capital asset management
You will play a key role in supporting strategic initiatives, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and coach a team of accounting professionals, including workforce planning and career development initiatives
Ensure team accountability for delivering work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal control requirements
Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records and accounting transactions
Partner with internal stakeholders to establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with FERC and GAAP accounting standards
Support the preparation, analysis, and delivery of financial reporting and insights to leadership
Lead and execute complex accounting projects and process improvement initiatives
Communicate financial results, analyses, and recommendations to senior leadership
Property Accounting & Capital Management Focus
Oversee and support property accounting activities, including asset capitalization, depreciation, and asset retirement obligations
Ensure accurate accounting for fixed assets and property transactions, including acquisitions, additions, transfers, retirements, and disposals
Support capital project accounting and related financial reporting
Partner with business leaders on divestitures, asset impairments, and valuation assessments, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards
Drive improvements to processes, controls, and systems supporting property accounting and capital management
Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to fixed assets and capital expenditures
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to fixed assets or property accounting
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and internal controls
Preferred:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience with property accounting, financial reporting, capital project accounting, or asset management environments
Prior experience leading or supervising a team
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment
Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Effective communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel), Oracle, and other financial systems
