Job Description

Under general managerial direction: Supervises one function of the Controller's Department and assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervises the day-to-day activities of section; assist staff with their work responsibilities, handles most complex problems.

2. Monitors and approves work within signing authority; ensure timely and accurate processing of work.

3. Ensures all files, logs and records are kept current; maintains confidentiality of records by adhering to all security measures.

4. Assists in developing, implementing and updating section policies and procedures; notifies staff through periodic meetings.

5. Reviews and recommends all staffing actions on member of section.

6. Performs additional job-related duties as required.

Requirements

Progressively more responsible accounting experience, preferably within a financial institution. B.A. degree in finance, accounting or business and previous supervisory experience preferred. Completion of basic bookkeeping courses required. PC proficiency necessary. Good communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Organize, file, retrieve and save large volumes of papers to include tickets, records, checks and branch letters.
  • Utilize a PC: add, delete, change and access financial information.

MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Prioritize multiple demands and ensure established service standards are maintained and production timeframes are met.
  • Identify training requirements of staff members and provide learning opportunities.
  • Utilize formal and acquired knowledge to find solutions to various situations and prevent losses.
  • Apply intermediate basic skills to reconcile records.
  • Read, interpret and apply regulatory guidelines, rulings and laws.

EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM FUNCTIONS

  • PC, telephone, fax, copier, 10-key, printer

DECISION MAKING

  • Select best method to resolve out of balance situations
  • Recommend changes to current operations to improve efficiency and prevent losses.
  • Identify bottlenecks in daily workflow and redistribute assignments in order to ensure all transactions are processed within approved time limits.
