Job Description

With 93 years of history, Harkins Theatres is looking for an Accountant I to support general ledger accounting functions through the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of financial data. Applies foundational accounting principles to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies while identifying and resolving discrepancies and supporting the monthly close process.

What You Will Be Doing:
• Prepares and posts journal entries for assigned accounts, ensuring proper classification and accuracy in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Performs and analyzes monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepares monthly general ledger account reconciliations, work papers, and expense analysis ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
• Assists in monitoring and maintaining fixed asset records, including calculating depreciation and reviewing activity for accuracy and proper treatment.
• Analyzes account activity and identifies unusual transactions, variances, or trends, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Supports the month-end close process by completing assigned tasks within established deadlines and while ensuring data integrity.
• Prepares corporate revenue deposits and related documentation, ensuring accuracy and proper recording.
• Ensures adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and established procedures in all assigned responsibilities.
• Assists in processing of city and state sales tax for select revenue streams.
• Requires typing on a computer, reaching, stretching, twisting, bending, walking up/down stairs and on flat surfaces, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, interacting with others, speaking on the telephone, problem-solving, and cognitive skills.

What We Are Looking For:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products; experience with ERP systems (e.g. Netsuite) and fixed asset systems (e.g. Sage Fixed Assets) preferred.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and apply sound judgement in resolving issues.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive financial information and exercises appropriate discretion.
• Communicates clearly and professionally in all interactions.
