Title: Accounting Specialist - CEMI- 2 Year Appointment

Salary Range: $77,400.00 - $86,200.00

*As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices

Position Summary

Under direction from the Assistant Director, maintains the institution’s Asset Inventory, coordinates space functionalization process in Space Inventory and performs a variety of various other analytical and reporting activities that support financial analysis, compliance and reimbursement rate submissions.

This is a term position anticipated to be needed through Fall 2028 but may be ended or extended based on organizational needs, funding availability, and performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains Fixed Asset Inventory in compliance with federal regulations as well as Weill Cornell Medicine’s policies and procedures; collaborates with the institution’s third-party consulting firm and oversees the maintenance of the asset database.
  • Coordinates space functionalization process by partnering with faculty, department administrators and central staff to accurately classify and maintain space data within the space management system.
  • Utilize various SAP to compile and analyze space related data required for reimbursement rate calculations and filings.
  • Assists in preparation and compilation of data supporting reimbursement rate submissions.
  • Support the Senior Analyst in monitoring fringe benefit costs and related collections.
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses, reports and reconciliations as needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration

Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, asset management, space management, compliance reporting or a related field.
  • Experience working in a higher education, healthcare, research or non-profit environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting the development and submission of federal cost reimbursement and fringe benefit rate proposals, preferably in a higher education is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to create basic reports and interpret basic statistics from various databases using reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to utilize SAP and other business systems to extract, analyze, and report financial and operational data.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
