Location: Hybrid (3 days in office) in Atlanta, GA
The Wholesale Fuel Inventory Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting, reconciliation, valuation, reporting, and control processes related to wholesale fuel inventory operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting of fuel inventory, supports operational efficiency, maintains compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, and partners closely with supply, trading, logistics, and operations teams to manage inventory risk and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Manage all accounting activities related to wholesale fuel inventory, including:
Inventory valuation
Cost accounting
Inventory movements
Gain/loss analysis
Shrink and over/short reconciliation
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes for inventory accounting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and inventory reserve calculations.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and Company accounting policies.
• Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting related to fuel inventory.
Inventory Controls & Reconciliations
• Leads daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of:
Terminal inventories
Pipeline movements
Exchange balances
Bulk plant inventories
In-transit fuel volumes
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with operations and supply teams.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls over inventory accounting processes.
• Support internal and external audits related to inventory and fuel accounting.

• Provide financial analysis and insights related to fuel inventory positions and operational performance.
• Support forecasting and budgeting for inventory-related costs and working capital.
Systems & Process Improvement
• Manage inventory accounting processes within ERP and fuel management systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Support implementation of new systems, integrations, and process enhancements.
• Develop KPI dashboards and inventory analytics tools.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop inventory accounting staff.
Establish performance expectations and support professional development.
Coordinate workload prioritization and cross-functional collaboration.
Work Experience/ Education:
• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with a concentration in finance, accounting or related field of study
• 5+ years’ accounting experience; preferably fuel and/or inventory experience
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP
• Advanced experience using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Proficiency with ERP system (Workday) and Commodity Trading Risk Management system (RightAngle), nice to have.
