
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and supporting the financial reporting, close, compliance, and internal control activities of a growing multi-location healthcare and senior living organization.
This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of accounting records, managing the monthly close process, supervising accounting staff, and ensuring compliance with company policies and U.S. GAAP. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Director of Finance to support internal controls, audit readiness, process improvements, and accounting system optimization.
Requirements
Accounting Operations
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities and communities
• Oversee general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
• Coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
• Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
• Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting documentation
Team Leadership
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff and senior accountants
• Review work product for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
• Assist with workload planning and prioritization across the accounting team
• Foster continuous improvement and professional development within the department
Internal Controls & Compliance Support
• Support execution and documentation of internal controls and accounting procedures
• Assist in maintaining process documentation and control narratives
• Monitor compliance with established approval workflows and segregation of duties
• Support audit readiness initiatives and external audit requests
• Assist the Director of Finance with compliance-related projects and control enhancements
Financial Systems & Reporting
• Utilize accounting systems to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
• Support integration of accounting data into reporting and analytics platforms
• Assist with testing and implementation of system enhancements and process automation initiatives
• Help maintain data integrity across accounting and financial reporting systems
Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency
• Assist in automating repetitive accounting activities
• Develop and maintain standardized accounting procedures and documentation
• Support onboarding of acquisitions and new communities into accounting processes and systems
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or equivalent accounting certification preferred
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial close processes
• Experience managing month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Experience working with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills

• Experience with accounting process documentation
• Experience working with distributed or offshore accounting teams
• Experience in healthcare, senior living, or multi-location service organizations is a plus
