Accounting Manager - Distribution - Base Salary to 100k/year - Hoffman Estates, IL

• Our client, a growing specialty distribution company serving the commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical industries, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team in the Hoffman Estates, IL area.
• This onsite role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, treasury activities, sales tax compliance, and accounting staff supervision. The Accounting Manager will work directly with company leadership and play a key role in financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP transition initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on accounting leadership experience within a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or industrial environment and have experience managing the full accounting cycle in a small-to-mid-sized business setting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement preparation
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and supporting documentation for leadership review
• Partner with company leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities
• Monitor working capital, collections, vendor payments, and cash positioning
• Oversee multi-state sales tax compliance, filings, nexus tracking, and coordination with external tax partners
• Support ERP system transition activities from QuickBooks Enterprise to Microsoft Dynamics
• Supervise accounting staff, including workload management, training, and cross-functional support
• Maintain internal accounting controls and support process improvement initiatives
• Utilize Excel for financial analysis, reporting, reconciliations, and data management

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, industrial, or related environment
• Hands-on experience managing the full accounting cycle including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, and financial close
• Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting
• Multi-state sales tax compliance experience required
• Experience working within ERP systems required
• Prior accounting staff supervisory experience required
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including reporting, reconciliations, and large data set management
• Experience supporting cash flow management and working capital activities
• Ability to work onsite in the Hoffman Estates, IL area

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 80k - 100k/year range
• Annual performance bonus
