About the Client

Our client is a well-established international accounting and advisory firm with a strong presence across Europe and global markets. They provide a broad range of services including accounting, audit, tax, and financial advisory to a diverse portfolio of international clients.

They operate with an agile and collaborative structure, enabling teams to work across multiple domains and geographies. As part of their continued growth, they are expanding their Japan Desk, which focuses on supporting Japanese clients operating in France and internationally.

We are seeking an Accounting Manager / Chef de Mission (Japan Desk) to join the Paris-based team.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Partners and Directors, manage a portfolio of international clients, and lead a team of junior and mid-level accountants. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services while contributing to process optimization and digital transformation initiatives.

Working model: HYBRID (1 day a week from home after probation period)

Location: Paris, France

Contract: Permanent

Interview Process: 2 client interviews and a test in oral Japanese language

Languages:

  • Japanese: Native or bilingual (mandatory, daily use)
  • French: Professional level (mandatory, daily use)

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of junior and experienced accounting professionals
  • Oversee a portfolio of international clients within the Japan Desk
  • Provide advisory support across accounting, tax, and financial matters
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Produce financial statements, tax declarations, and annual filings
  • Contribute to IFRS consolidation activities
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Optimize internal processes, tools, and workflows
  • Support the firm’s digital transformation initiatives
  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on client engagements

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting firm (expertise comptable)
  • Proven experience in client portfolio management and team leadership
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, tax, and financial reporting
  • Experience with IFRS consolidation is a strong advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
  • Experience with tools such as Cegid, Pennylane, or similar is a plus
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a structured, deadline-driven environment
