The role
This role is for someone who wants to help founders of eCommerce brands scale with confidence, enjoys leading talented accountants, and thrives in a tech-forward environment where continuous improvement is encouraged. You'll lead a small team of accountants (1–5 direct reports), own the quality of their deliverables across multiple client files, and help clients understand the story behind their numbers.
What you'll be doing
Team leadership — manage and mentor a team of accountants to deliver accurate, timely, high-quality work
Full-cycle accounting oversight — review reconciliations, financial reports, and month-end close deliverables across multiple client files
Operational excellence — ensure UpCounting's accounting processes are followed consistently and improve them where needed
Client support & communication — help clients understand their numbers, communicate insights clearly, and ensure smooth financial operations
System & process optimization — identify automation opportunities and contribute to scalable, efficient workflows alongside Controllers and senior leadership
What you bring
5+ years of experience in accounting management, ideally within a firm or multi-client environment
High proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or Xero (NetSuite is a bonus)
Strong technical foundation across full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and month-end processes
Excellent communication and leadership skills — you elevate the people around you
Excellent English — this is a client-facing role
Comfortable using automation tools and improving processes
A calm, structured leadership style — you bring clarity without micromanagement
Based in Latin America with availability to work EST hours
eCommerce client experience is preferred; FP&A or financial modeling experience is an asset
Your journey at UpCounting
First week — meet the People Team and Accounting leadership, onboard into the systems, connect with your direct reports, and understand workflows across tools, teams, and time zones
Month 1 — manage client files, team rhythms, and weekly deliverables; lead your team through core processes and learn the review system end-to-end
Month 3 — fully own your portfolio of accountants and clients: setting priorities, supporting performance, ensuring high-quality delivery, and improving workflows
Working hours & setup
Fully remote
First six months: align with EST hours (9 AM – 5 PM) to onboard smoothly; then transition to 80% EST overlap
