We are currently looking for an experienced professional to join us as Accounting Manager and become a key member of the leadership team in Slovakia. In addition to overseeing the delivery of accounting and tax services to our clients, this person will lead the Accounting Department, oversee the financial reporting of Vistra Corporate Services Slovakia and work closely with Vistra’s regional and global teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Accounting Department in Slovakia, supporting the company’s business development activities, collaborating with the Group Finance team and providing nominee director services to selected strategic clients.

About the role

This role is designed for a senior professional seeking a broader scope of responsibility, a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both the team and the continued development of the business in Slovakia.

You will be responsible for the professional oversight of the accounting and tax services delivered to our clients, the management of the local team, and the internal accounting and financial reporting of Vistra Slovakia.

Key responsibilities

• lead the Accounting Department and provide professional oversight of the accounting services delivered to the company’s clients
• manage clients’ full-scope accounting in compliance with Slovak legislation
• prepare, compile and review statutory financial statements and corporate income tax returns
• take responsibility for VAT, Intrastat and statistical reporting
• manage motor vehicle tax compliance
• communicate with the Slovak Financial Administration, public authorities and regulatory institutions
• prepare client and internal financial reporting
• convert accounting outputs from IFRS and US GAAP to Slovak GAAP and prepare statutory financial statements
• coordinate audits and communicate with auditors, tax advisers and external partners
• monitor legislative developments and implement relevant changes in practice
• coordinate registrations with tax and regulatory authorities
• take responsibility for the internal accounting and reporting of Vistra Slovakia in accordance with Group standards
• work closely with teams in the Czech Republic and across Vistra’s international network
• communicate daily with international clients in English
• support business development activities and the growth of client relationships
• provide nominee director services to selected clients
• represent clients in business and administrative matters, including communication with third parties

About you

• university degree in economics, accounting, finance or a related field
• at least six years of relevant accounting experience
• experience managing comprehensive accounting and tax matters
• very good knowledge of Slovak accounting regulations, VAT and corporate income tax
• experience preparing financial statements and financial reporting
• ability to manage priorities independently and make sound decisions
• analytical mindset, attention to detail and a proactive approach
• excellent communication and organisational skills
• advanced written and spoken English for daily professional communication
• advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel
• experience with accounting systems; knowledge of Helios or Pohoda would be an advantage

The following would be an advantage

• team leadership experience
• knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP
• experience in an international, professional services or outsourcing environment
• successful completion of the Slovak tax adviser examinations; membership of the Slovak Chamber of Tax Advisers would be an advantage
• a professional accounting qualification, such as Certified Balance Sheet Accountant, Chief Accountant or a comparable qualification in accounting and finance
• an international professional qualification such as ACCA, FCCA or equivalent

Salary: EUR 3,600 - 4,000 per month, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications
