Job Description

Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, and operation of energy storage assets in wholesale electricity markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary dispatch optimization applications to support both merchant and contracted structures. Backed by BlackRock’s Diversified Infrastructure business, Jupiter Power has a strategic and established portfolio of 787.5/1375 of utility-scale energy storage projects operating or in construction in the U.S., with a leading pipeline of over 11,000 MW in active development.

Jupiter Power is looking to grow its accounting team with the addition of a Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will report to the VP, Accounting & Financial Reporting and be the primary liaison between Accounting and the Finance, Development, Construction, and Operations teams.

This is a high-visibility role for someone who wants to take ownership of their projects and help improve how the work gets done. As Jupiter grows, the Project Accountant will gain broad exposure across the business and have a real hand in shaping process improvements.

This role will be based out of our Chicago, IL office and subject to our return-to-office policy, which currently requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

Financial Statement Ownership

  • Prepare and own the Jupiter Power consolidated financial statements (e.g., Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Members’ Equity, Cash Flow, footnotes, etc.); final sign-off before external distribution remains with the VP.
  • Own portfolio-wide financial statement templates and checklist standards.
  • Identify and help implement process improvements across the financial statement close.

Specialty Areas

  • Own inter-entity mapping, intercompany transactions and equity, ensuring accuracy across the portfolio; Project Accountants provide direct support within their assigned entities.
  • Own the framework and execution for specialty technical accounting areas (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, HLBV, Intangibles, Inventory, etc.), which may evolve as the business grows.
  • Research technical accounting issues and monitor GAAP developments relevant to owned specialty areas.

Contract Review & Technical Memos

  • Independently review agreements (e.g., tax equity, offtake, debt, and similar documents) and draft the full technical accounting memo, including a proposed accounting position, for new deals and transactions as they arise.
  • Escalate final memo conclusions and any novel or precedent-setting treatment to the VP for sign-off.

Audit Support

  • Support management of the annual audit process, including PBC coordination, follow-up, timeline adherence, and related tasks.
  • Escalate open or unresolved technical accounting inquiries to the VP.

Perform other ad hoc duties as requested.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Eager to identify and provide solutions to complex accounting issues, and to bring ideas that improve processes.
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct required; familiarity with Ramp, Expensify, and Corpay or similar platforms preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a track record of successful process improvement.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment — brings resilience, full ownership of outcomes, and the ability to make sound decisions independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • CPA required.
  • 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Industry background in project-based accounting (construction, oil & gas; renewables/energy infrastructure preferred); prior industry experience required — not straight from public accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently propose — not just document — an accounting position on a complex issue.

Compensation & Benefits

$120,000-$150,000 DOE
