Our team in Mexico is looking for a Accounting Manager. This person will ensure the integrity, compliance, and quality of financial information under IFRS, regulatory (CNSF), and tax frameworks, leading the company’s accounting function while acting as a strategic business partner, and ensuring robust internal controls and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting Control and Financial Close
    • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Ensure compliance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements (CNSF). Validate insurance accounting criteria (premiums, reserves, claims) and oversee critical reconciliations.
  • Group and Regulatory ReportingPrepare and validate reporting to:Group (IFRS).
    • Quarterly closings, ensuring full compliance and proper implementation of all Group accounting policies within the Group reporting systems.
  • CNSF (Regulatory Reports and Indicators).
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required financial regulatory deliverables to the Commission.
  • Ensure consistency between local and Group books, including clear explanations and reconciliations of variances (local GAAP vs IFRS bridge).
  • Audit Management:
    • Lead external, internal, and tax audits.
  • Coordinate technical and documentary responses, effectively manage auditors, and ensure that reported positions align with company best practices.
    • Guarantee timely delivery of all required information and reports.
  • Internal Control and Compliance
    • Design and oversee SOX/1LC controls and ensure proper documentation (e.g., eFront).
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and assess accounting and regulatory risks.
  • Tax (Oversight, not execution)
    • Supervise tax calculations and filings.
  • Coordinate with internal or external tax teams to ensure timely submissions and proper audit management.
  • Investments and Treasury
    • Oversee treasury and investment operations execution.
  • Co-define investment strategy and ALM together with the CFO.
  • Ensure periodic reporting to both the regulator and the Group.
  • Supervise the Investment Committee.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and manage the accounting team. Define and monitor KPIs and SLAs.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive automation of accounting processes, optimize SAP usage, and standardize procedures.
  • Business Partnering
    • Provide support to:CFO, Controlling & actuarial teams
  • Perform accounting impact analysis on key areas such as accounts payable, solvency, deferred acquisition costs (DAC/DXP), and related financial topics.
  • Oversee the preparation of regulatory reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
    • Ensuring compliance with regulatory indicators and escalating any deviations as necessary.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and oversee the collections process.
  • Supervise the calculation of taxes and ensure accurate and timely filing of returns with local tax authorities.

Qualifications

The Candidate

Experience

  • 7-10+ years of experience within insurance companies, with at least 5 years in accounting teams with direct exposure to local regulatory reporting.
  • Experience in roles such as Coordinator, Specialist, or Head of Accounting is highly desirable, including people management with at least one direct report.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and proven experience managing external auditors is required.
  • Familiarity with IFRS is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with a proactive, collaborative, and non-reserved profile.
  • Strong time management and delivery focus are critical, along with a high sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability.

Education

  • 4-year Accounting degree highly desired
  • Master's degree (desirable)

Desired technical skills

  • SAP Knowledge (ideally)

Languages

  • Fluent in English (mandatory)
  • Fluent in Spanish (mandatory)
