Accounting Manager (GAAP, Multi-Entity, Month-End Close, Payroll) – Remote | U.S. Hours

About the Role

We’re hiring a hands-on Accounting Manager to own financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, and core accounting operations across complex, multi-entity client accounts.

This is a high-accountability, execution-focused role — not basic bookkeeping. You’ll be responsible for:

• Clean, accurate financials
• Strong GAAP compliance
• Reliable reporting across entities
• Structured, scalable accounting systems

What You’ll Own

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Execute month-end and year-end close with speed and accuracy
• Prepare financial statements:
• Balance Sheet
• Income Statement (P&L)
• Supporting schedules
• Maintain clean, audit-ready workpapers
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and reporting timelines

Payroll & Employee Setup

• Process payroll using platforms like Gusto (or similar systems)
• Manage employee onboarding within payroll systems
• Ensure compliance with U.S. payroll regulations
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation

Core Accounting Operations

• Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple entities
• Manage day-to-day accounting with strong attention to detail
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies quickly

Sales Tax & Compliance

• Calculate and file U.S. state sales tax accurately and on time
• Maintain proper documentation for all filings
• Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements

Reporting, Analysis & Forecasting

• Build custom reports to support business insights
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes
• Deliver clear financial analysis and data-driven insights

Process Improvement & Documentation

• Review and improve accounting workflows
• Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions
• Standardize SOPs across clients and systems
• Ensure consistency, scalability, and accuracy

Client & Internal Coordination

• Communicate with leadership on priorities and deliverables
• Support client-facing financial discussions when needed
• Align on reporting timelines and expectations

Requirements (Must-Have)

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
• Strong experience with accrual accounting / GAAP financials
• Experience managing:
• Multi-entity
• Multi-location
• Multi-segment businesses
• Proficiency in:
• QuickBooks Online / Desktop / Enterprise
• Advanced Excel skills:
• XLOOKUP
• INDEX/MATCH
• Pivot Tables
• Data Tables
• Payroll experience (Gusto or similar platforms)
• Experience with U.S. sales tax filings
• Strong written and verbal English communication

Nice to Have

• Experience with NetSuite
• Familiarity with:
• ADP
• Paylocity
• Experience with:
• Ramp
• Bill.com
• Exposure to time-tracking tools (e.g., Clockify)
• Background in outsourced accounting firms
