Job Description

Our award-winning client is seeking a Statutory Accounting Manager to join their team. In this leadership role, you will play a critical role in overseeing our monthly closing process, financial reporting, and ensuring adherence to statutory accounting regulations. You will manage a team and be responsible for a wide range of accounting activities, from journal entries and reinsurance accounting to tax filings and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the monthly closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for insurance and reinsurance activities, taxes, fees, and other adjustments.

• Maintain the insurance database and generate reports. Manage investment accounting activities.

• Oversee reinsurance accounting, billing, and collections.

• Prepare quarterly and annual statutory and GAAP financials, as well as regulatory filings.

• Lead the preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes.

• Prepare corporate tax provisions and premium tax filings for various jurisdictions.

• Stay up-to-date on statutory accounting regulations and implement necessary changes.

• Lead ad-hoc accounting projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of experience in P&C insurance accounting, with a strong understanding of statutory and reinsurance accounting.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or Master's degree a plus.

• Experience researching and resolving complex accounting issues.

• Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage a team.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams).

• Experience with statutory accounting software is a plus.
