The Opportunity
A premier financial services firm in Richmond is seeking a high-caliber Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting functions during a period of significant digital transformation. This is a pivotal role for a technical accountant who thrives in the "grey area" of complex financial services and wants to be the primary architect of a major ERP migration.
You will have a front-row seat to the firm’s evolution, transitioning our legacy processes into a robust, automated NetSuite environment while ensuring our financial statements remain beyond reproach.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Statement Preparation
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes with a focus on speed and accuracy.
Direct the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
Manage the consolidation of multiple entities and oversee complex intercompany eliminations.
Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the PBC (Provided by Client) list and ensuring a seamless audit trail.
NetSuite Implementation & Optimization
Serve as the Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our upcoming NetSuite implementation
Partner with IT and external consultants to map the Chart of Accounts (COA), design automated workflows, and validate data migration.
Identify opportunities to automate manual reconciliations and reporting functions within the NetSuite environment.
Develop and deliver internal training for the accounting team on new system protocols and best practices.
Leadership & Strategy
Mentor and develop a lean accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Enhance internal controls and documentation to mitigate risk in a high-volume financial services environment.
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Candidate Profile
The Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within Financial Services or Private Equity. At least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
The Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or MBA preferred.
The Technical Edge: Deep, hands-on experience with NetSuite is highly preferred (specifically through an implementation or optimization phase). Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Power Query) are a baseline requirement.
The Detail: A "perfectionist" mindset regarding financial statement accuracy and a natural ability to spot discrepancies in complex data sets.
Location: Ability to work on-site/hybrid in Richmond, VA office.
