Job Description

The GBS Accounting Manager is responsible for leading monthly and quarterly closing activities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting. The role oversees the review and approval of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, analyzes financial fluctuations, and plays a key controllership role by ensuring compliance with internal policies, SOX requirements, and regulatory standards. The Accounting Manager leads and develops a team of accounting professionals through effective guidance, coaching, and task delegation. The position actively contributes to process improvements, automation initiatives, and the implementation of new accounting tools and technologies. Strong collaboration, hands‑on leadership, and clear communication with senior leaders and stakeholders are critical skills to success.

• Perform monthly and quarterly financial close activities, including reviewing and approving journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement account fluctuations.
• Assist segments/sectors with the budget, forecast, and outlook process.
• Partner with sector/segments to resolve issues and reporting requirements.
• Supervise a team of finance professionals, providing daily guidance and task delegation.
• Offer guidance, coaching and training to other team members.
• Explain policies, practices and influence others at an operational level.
• Contribute to develop goals for the department and planning efforts.
• Ensure compliance with Duracell’s Standard Practice Instructions, Sarbanes Oxley internal controls, and FCPA.
• Establish accounting controls and procedures as required to enhance controllership environment.
• Ensure Duracell internal reporting deadlines are met.
• Identify and help to eliminate non-value-added activities within the team.
• Participate in the implementation of new accounting processes, technologies, tools, automations or process improvements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge in Procomer audit processes and Free Trade Zone requirements is preferred.

  • 10 years of prior relevant experience in accounting roles managing month end closes.

  • Proficient in ERP systems, with practical knowledge in SAP and BlackLine.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of finance and accounting standards, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Skilled in managing workflows and prioritizing responsibilities to consistently meet deadlines with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Proven experience streamlining accounting processes and reporting for more efficient and effective results (AI experience is preferred).

  • Proven team management experience, focused on providing guidance and coaching to team members in charge.

  • Hands-on leadership style, comfortable diving into details while effectively collaborating with senior business leaders.

  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills, confident in delivering presentations and providing well-founded conclusions on complex accounting matters

  • Advanced English proficiency.

  • Open to work extended hours during peak periods such as month-end, quarter-end and fiscal year end cycles.
