The Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting operations, manages the accounting team, and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting. This role plays a key part in strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and supporting strategic financial decision-making across the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise accounting team members and delegate responsibilities
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial reporting packages
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain internal controls
• Develop, document, and improve accounting policies and procedures
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
• Partner with leadership on financial insights and operational decisions
• Assist with audits and external reporting requirements
• Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls
• Insurance industry experience required
Work Environment & Travel Requirements
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment with a moderate noise level. Standard office physical requirements apply, including sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
Travel Requirements
Periodic domestic travel may be required for leadership meetings, training, and collaboration across Sequel Insurance Agencies office locations.
