We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our Accounting team at our Milan, IL location. This 12-week paid internship is designed for students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in accounting operations within a consumer products company. The intern will work closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to learn real-world accounting processes while building a strong professional foundation.

Pay: $19.23/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with reviewing, processing, and posting customer payments including checks and ACH transactions
- Support monthly customer statement preparation and AR processes
- Assist with processing inventory, freight, and operational expense invoices
- Learn and support purchasing and receiving workflows
- Participate in month-end close activities, including report preparation and journal entry support
- Assist with general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting processes
- Support daily cash reporting and bank reconciliation activities
- Work with inventory specialists to identify ERP variances and assist with test counts
- Participate in special accounting projects such as ERP integrations, fixed asset audits, sales tax compliance, and vendor documentation
- Maintain organized electronic records and documentation
- Collaborate with accounting and cross-functional teams on daily operational tasks
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Strong interest in corporate accounting and financial operations
- Internship, coursework, or related experience preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles through coursework
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a professional environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiative
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and reliability
