Job Description

At Magnolia, the Senior Financial Analyst serves as the primary finance business partner for an assigned business channel, owning the full FP&A cycle including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting. The position delivers accurate, timely financial reporting and insights to support informed decision-making, identify risks and opportunities, and improve financial performance. The Senior Financial Analyst also contributes to the continuous improvement of financial processes and controls by identifying opportunities and supporting analytical tools that strengthen future planning. This position works from Magnolia Headquarters in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Director of Finance and has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary finance business partner for an assigned business channel, owning the full FP&A cycle including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ad hoc financial support for channel leadership*
  • Lead the analysis of historical and forward-looking financial data within the assigned channel to surface insights, identify risks and opportunities, and support informed business decisions
  • Own and manage quarterly budget forecasts and monthly variance reporting distributed to management across the company*
  • Produce and own monthly budget versus actual financial statements, delivering accurate and timely reporting in support of finance leadership*
  • Maintain and continuously improve the efficiency and accuracy of the 17-week cash flow forecast*
  • Serve as a day-to-day resource for assigned business channel, providing detailed GL reporting and researching and resolving budgetary questions*
  • Audit GL account activity and independently identify anomalies in the monthly financials that may indicate breakdowns in departmental policies and procedures; escalate findings with recommended next steps
  • Develop ad hoc financial reports and analysis in support of finance leadership’s reporting and decision-making needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting tools, and internal controls; escalate recommendations to the Director of Finance for review and implementation
  • Design, build, and maintain databases of pertinent financial information, including analytical reports used in evaluating future plans and forecasts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience using NetSuite accounting software and Workday Adaptive Insights planning tool strongly preferred. Comprehensive understanding of financial statements and the accounting relationships among them. Strong command of financial metrics, cash flow management, and FP&A best practices including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from a 4-year college or university preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience with a related degree, 4-7 years of experience with a non-related degree, or 5+ years of industry experience preferred
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, or a related field required
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own recurring financial deliverables and business channel reporting
  • Experience working cross-functionally with non-finance stakeholders preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
