Job Description

American Stone Salt Lake is hiring a full-time Accounting Clerk II to support our Accounting Team with accounts payable, payroll, reporting, and related accounting functions. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills who enjoys working with systems and taking ownership of their work.

This role involves payroll processing, tax reporting (Forms 940/941), W-2s, 1099s, and working with Excel for reporting and analysis.

This is a primarily on-site role based in Murray, UT. Candidates must be local and available to work in-office as needed.

This role supports day-to-day accounting operations and requires accuracy, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Your Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Process accounts payable by entering invoices, freight charges, and vendor payments into our Odoo system and creating purchase orders as instructed
  • Process payroll including tax compliance (Forms 940, 941, W-2, 1099), deductions, garnishments, and state/federal withholdings.
  • Enter production data for Star Stone quarry employees to accurately calculate commissions and process commission pay for sales employees.
  • Process inter-company billing and receiving
  • Maintain and update DOT compliance documentation, including driver files, inspection logs, and hours-of-service records
  • Prepare and maintain government and compliance reports, including new hire reports (Utah Labor Commission), payroll tax filings (Forms 940 & 941), W-2s, 1099s, fuel tax reports (IFTA), sales tax reporting, and Mine Safety and Health documentation
  • Perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations, inventory control, asset tracking, COGs, and product production reporting
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams to support accurate and timely accounting records
  • Assist with new employee paperwork, open and sort mail, and maintain Mine Safety and Health Commission records accurately and up to date

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree required.*
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, including payroll processing, payroll tax filings (940/941), W-2s, 1099s, and government reporting.*
  • Experience using accounting or ERP systems such as Odoo, Peachtree, QuickBooks, or similar software, along with strong spreadsheet skills (Excel or Google Sheets).*
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions, and intermediate-to-advanced formulas, is required.*
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and electronic, and team player
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and meet basic physical requirements of the role
  • Ability to pass a drug screening
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus

Schedule

The schedule is negotiable but generally falls within standard business hours.
