DEFINITION: Under close supervision, assists with accounts payable/receivable and payroll for Sunnyside Unified School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Verifies wages for employees; answers incoming phone calls and questions; files time cards and other payroll or accounting documents; ensures accuracy of information pertaining to paychecks; inputs payroll deductions; distributes checks; assists with preparing financial reports of funds for the administration; prepares requisitions; collects and issues receipts for State tax credit donations; prepares sales tax reports.
Maintains inventories and records; receives and accounts for money; compiles, types and files financial reports and statements; opens and distributes Department mail; performs a wide range of general and accounting related clerical work; performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Uniform System of Financial Reporting (USFR).
Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations.
Knowledge of accounting and payroll practices.
Skill in utilizing basic accounting principles.
Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software.
Skill in performing arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of clerical experience and/or accounts payable or bookkeeping experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess an Arizona driver license.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
