Breaking Ground operates nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, along with housing in upstate New York and Connecticut. Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.

But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the Accounting Clerk provides support to the Finance team by assisting in various finance functions such as accounts payable, cash receipts, accounts receivable, treasury, tenant billing, and budgeting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
• Work with financial management software such as Financial Edge and Real Page
• Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
• Shadow and assist members of the Finance department as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working in a financial accounting environment preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
• Administrative experience that demonstrates analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Detail-oriented with high level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
