Job Description

Tague Lumber is looking for an Accounting Assistant to perform a variety of tasks within our accounting department to help ensure the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. The role will be based at our headquarters in Media with some travel to our other locations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review vendor invoices and process weekly check runs.
  • Code items such as invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc., with the correct vendor and general ledger codes to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
  • Handles all vendor correspondence via phone or email.
  • Add new vendors to the ERP system and maintain relevant documents and updated information for contacts, addresses, payment terms, etc.
  • Matches incoming invoices to the corresponding purchase orders and stock receipts with all supporting documentation.
  • Assist with invoicing of orders for the Media location.
  • Receive inventory into the system and match invoices to purchase orders.
  • Scan and upload records into the Company’s document management system.
  • Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders.
  • Serve as the back-up for other team members’ accounting tasks.
  • On-Site support at other locations (when needed due to PTO):
  • Process and record daily cash settlements.
  • Replenish cash drawer, petty cash, and change drawer as needed
  • Receive customer checks, apply to accounts, and deposit those checks
  • Participate in the annual physical inventory.
  • Perform other duties as required to support Accounting Department.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to show discretion and trustworthiness with confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Professional interactive and customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Travel to other Tague locations is required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
