COMPANY PROFILE:
Aquilini Group (“AG”) is a diversified family business founded in Vancouver, BC more than 50 years ago with roots in the real estate development and construction industry. Today the company owns and manages an international real estate portfolio that includes commercial and residential properties, hotels, golf courses, vineyards and blueberry and cranberry farms. In addition to its ongoing pursuits in real estate development and construction, AG has expanded its holdings to include assets in the sports & entertainment, renewable energy, aquaculture, tourist attractions, restaurants and food & beverage industries.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for our busy downtown office as our Accounting Assistant. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Finance and is responsible for assisting the Finance department to complete their monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives. The position resides within the Corporate Finance Group at AG. This role is an in-office position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned from time to time)
· Perform bookkeeping functions for various businesses (including but not limited to AP, AR, Bank and credit card reconciliations)
· Monitors emails daily, respond to vendors, customers, internal stakeholders, and/or redirect to the appropriate staff
· Communicate effectively with vendors and customers regarding invoice discrepancies, payment status, and inquires to reconcile account statements
· Set up online payments and transfers.
· Perform reconciliation of various bank and GL accounts on a monthly basis
· Support month-end and year-end closing process
· Review GST tax remittances for accuracy and compliance with governing legislation and regulations
· Perform general administrative duties and takes on other duties or responsibilities as required
· Various ad hoc and special projects
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting
· Planning to work towards or working towards a CPA designation is considered an asset
· At least 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience within a fast-paced business environment
· Proficient knowledge of Excel is required and working knowledge of Sage 300 is an asset
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner
· Extremely organized, thorough and takes pride in quality
· Strong reporting skills, and ability to present concisely in written and oral communication
· Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize
· Proven self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
