1The Accounting Analyst 2 provides accounting and financial support to Chevron business organizations by applying accounting principles, company policies, and established procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. This position performs analysis, account reconciliations, close activities, and reporting processes while working collaboratively with internal customers and global business partners. The role also contributes to process improvement, standardization, digitalization, and control compliance initiatives to support business objectives and operational excellence.

Chevron is seeking an Accounting Analyst to join the International Financial Accounting team within the Upstream Finance organization. This position supports Chevron's Latin America operations and plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and internal controls.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, multinational environment, collaborating with business partners, finance teams, and auditors across multiple geographies. This role provides exposure to complex accounting matters, financial reporting processes, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting Chevron's global operations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply accounting principles, company policies, and internal control requirements to accurately record and report financial transactions.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
  • Support statutory, financial, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and other internal control procedures.
  • Research accounting matters and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, simplify, and automate accounting processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with business partners and cross-functional teams across global organizations.
  • Utilize financial systems and analytical tools, including SAP, JDE, Hyperion, BlackLine, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives related to accounting, reporting, and process transformation.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA or equivalent) – mandatory.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Commitment to integrity, compliance, and Chevron values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in multinational organizations and shared service environments.
  • Experience with statutory financial reporting.
  • Experience with Joint Venture Accounting, intercompany transactions, or international operations.
  • Experience with SAP, JDE, Hyperion, and BlackLine.
  • Oil & Gas industry experience is a plus.
