Requirements:

  • High School diploma or it's equivalent.
  • One (1) year of accounting experience with the State of Florida
  • CODA data entry keying experience
  • One (1) year of check processing experience

Preference:

  • Post-Secondary degree in Accounting or Business from an accredited college or university.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Incumbent will accurately and timely research, analyze and code “Unidentifiable Revenue Payments Received” on a daily basis.
  • Determine appropriate revenue source code (RSC) and FLAIR Account Code information for the researched receipt/checks.
  • Will accurately and timely create “Bundle Sheets” to prepare for processing in appropriate business system
  • Timely and accurately maintain tracking logs and monitor checks held for research, via excel spreadsheet.
  • Timely and accurately audit, reconcile, code, and bundle division/office applications and other Requests for Service payments in preparation for processing in the Cashier’s Office Deposit Automation system (CODA).
  • Responsible for timely and accurately processing revenue payments for the agency divisions/offices, using CODA.
  • Analyzes revenue financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries daily. If errors are identified, the incumbent will immediately correct in source system or seek supervisor assistance so that CODA and Bank files are accurately synced.
  • Timely and accurately scan deposits and electronically submit to bank using bank issued equipment. Deposits will balance to the scanned checks. Checks will be properly inserted in the bank scanning system, ensuring “micr” and routing/account details from the check/money orders are captured during the scan.
  • Responsible for peer-review and making any necessary corrections to the processed work of the Accountant III in the Cashier’s Office. Will maintain a tracking log of errors that will be shared with the Accountant III and Supervisor.
  • Timely and accurately reconcile Verification of Daily Detail Deposit Reports to Validated documents for all business areas. If errors are found after deposit closing, prepare and submit the necessary receipt corrections to be made by FLAIR Team staff.
  • Timely and accurately prepare verified validated documents that will be distributed to business area daily.
  • Timely and accurately maintain control over compilation and completion of the Mail Tracking Activity Report and the Reconciliation of Custodial Checks log held in the vault.
  • Responsible for providing customers, both internal and external, with receipt related information.
  • Assists Finance and Accounting employees with solving day-to-day problems relating to revenue financial activities of the Cashier’s Office.
  • Prepares supplemental financial analysis and special reports to aid management particularly at year-end.
  • Assists with training external employees to support the Cashier’s Office during Unclaimed Property Season.
  • Serve as Back-up for timely and accurately processing debit memos as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required by Supervisor.
