REQUIRED QULAIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years relevant accounting & finance experience, preferably in the field of development sector or donor-funded projects.
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge in relevant accounting ERP software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Business Central software

The position

BACKGROUND

The Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is an Egyptian non-profit organization established in 1991 under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity. OHF is the implementation agency for the Aga Khan Foundation Egypt and is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network of organizations and was founded by Om Habibeh Mohamed Shah Aga Khan to contribute to and support local communities in the governorate of Aswan in areas including health care, education, and providing income for deprived communities through long-term development activities. OHF works in the following areas: Continuing Education, Civil Society, Agriculture and Food Security, Economic Inclusion, Women Empowerment and Early Childhood Development.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining complete and reliable accounting records, and supporting effective financial management. The role contributes to the preparation of financial reports, budget monitoring, and compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and applicable financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Transactions
  • Review payment requests, invoices, and supporting documents to ensure completeness and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in the accounting system.
  • Verify the accuracy of general ledger (GL) coding and cost allocations.

Budget Monitoring
• Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets.
• Prepare Budget vs. Actual reports and analyse variances.
• Alert the Finance Manager and Project Managers to any budget overruns or financial risks.

Donor Compliance

  • Ensure that all expenditures comply with donor regulations, organizational policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Verify that all required approvals and supporting documentation are obtained before processing payments.
  • Maintain complete and well-organized financial documentation for donor-funded projects.


Financial Reporting
• Prepare monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of donor financial reports.
• Analyse financial data and provide explanations for budget variances when required.

Audit Support
• Prepare financial records and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Respond to auditors' inquiries and provide the requested documentation.
• Follow up on audit findings and support the implementation of corrective actions.

Cash and Bank Management
• Prepare cash requests and cash forecasts.
• Perform bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Monitor cash balances and ensure proper cash management.

Partner Financial Management
• Review partners' financial reports and supporting documentation.
• Verify compliance with financial agreements and donor requirements.
• Conduct financial monitoring visits to partner organizations when required.
• Provide financial guidance and support to partners on compliance and reporting requirements.

Other Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.
