Who We Are

We are Tennis! The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the recognized leader in promoting and developing the sport’s growth on every level in the U.S. The Hawaii Pacific Section is one of 17 geographic Sections of the USTA. Incorporated in 1973, the Hawaii Pacific Section embraces over 7,800 individual members and 109 organizational members in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas. In addition, the Hawaii Pacific Section is further comprised of four Community Tennis Organizations: Kauai, Maui, East Hawaii & West Hawaii. The Hawaii Pacific Section is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to carrying out the goals of the national association within its region, particularly with respect to promoting tennis opportunities for juniors and adults of all abilities and all cultural backgrounds.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee our financial recording, payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and year-end financial reporting. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy in financial statements, manage audits, and support seamless accounting operations.

Monthly Operations

• Deposits & Disbursements: Record all incoming deposits and pay all invoices and outgoing disbursements accurately in QuickBooks.
• Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations for checking and investment accounts.
• Payroll Processing: Reconcile and submit payroll via GUSTO software system, 2 times per month during office visits.
• Financial Reporting: Produce monthly financial reports including the balance sheet, profit & loss statements, check register, and other requested reports. Review monthly financial statements following the completion of each check run.

Year-End Accounting & Audit Support

• Expense Accruals: Accrue expenses at year-end to ensure complete and accurate financial records.
• Workpaper Compilation: Compile and organize year-end workpaper files.
• Audit Preparation: Assist with gathering documents and information for year-end audits.
• Tax Returns: Review income tax returns for accuracy before submission.

Annual Budget Process:

• Assist with the Budget process and input into QuickBooks

Insurance & Compliance

• Insurance Audits: Assist with all types of insurance audits and compliance documentation.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll administration, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Experience preparing workpapers and supporting year-end tax and audit processes.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Excel/Google Sheets.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Must work onsite in the office at least twice per month
