Job Description

What are we looking for:

We are currently seeking an accomplished individual to join our finance and accounting team and assume the role of Senior Accountant for our Varex India Entity, located in Pune. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of our exciting journey and make a meaningful contribution to our success.

The position will report to the India Finance Controller. The Senior Accountant is a key driver in the global accounting close process, internal controls, and reconciliations. In this role, you will have the opportunity to advance your knowledge of the global accounting process, expand into other finance related areas, and use your new found knowledge to improve processes.

The ideal person for this position will have a demonstrated understanding of corporate accounting, excellent technical and communication skills, drive and focus on process improvement, and the ability to partner effectively across business functions. You will move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you will tap into your problem-solving skills to support Varex’s business objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the accounting closure and financial reporting process ensuring all financial deadlines are met for India entities.
  • Own and assist in aspects of monthly close, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, monitoring and preparing ad-hoc analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings (GST, TDS, Income Tax, etc.)
  • Multi-entity journal entries and reconciliations including, but not limited to cash, prepaid and other current asset, construction in process, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, leases, etc.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in the timely processing of payments to vendors.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly income statement and balance sheet and fluctuation analysis.
  • Assist in the implementation of processes and internal controls.
  • Assist legal in the governmental compliance filings.
  • Prepare and review internal controls over financial reporting documentation to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (“SOX”) in line with established processes.
  • Detailed GL account research to understand and comment on irregular patterns.
  • Assist with the statutory audit, and schedule requests of external auditors.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Drive and understand process improvements and work cross-functionally.
  • Coordinate with tax, treasury and legal to address various business requirements of the entities.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data.
  • Provide support to FP&A and India Finance Controller
  • Lead ad hoc projects as needed.

Required Candidature:

  • Bachelors Degree Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment as an accountant
  • Proficient with relevant computer applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong and verifiable accounting skills
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal and interpersonal)
  • Understanding of India GAAP, U.S. GAAP or IFRS knowledge preferred
  • Experience working with SAP as ERP business system or equivalent.
  • Must have a strong financial close background and the ability to think critically.
  • Attention to detail, inquisitive, and focus on process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight.
