We're seeking a Staff Accountant who is highly attentive to detail, self-motivated, and brings a positive team player attitude. This role is a key member of our accounting team at MTS headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN, with a focus on transactional tax and Accounts Receivable.
Prepare monthly sales and use tax reports timely and accurately for U.S. and Canada
Maintain tax notices, records, returns, and customer exemption certificates for proper record keeping
Prepare, file, and pay business property tax for assets assigned to MTS Field Service Engineers
Manage and maintain MTS business licenses and applicable compliance documentation
Process customer invoices to online portals and provide customer statements upon request
Communicate past due balances to customers and collect payment for outstanding invoices
Process customer credit card payments
Actively participate in month-end close by preparing journal entries, and reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts
Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies for AR or transactional tax balances
Assist with maintaining and improving the internal control environment, including SOX controls and external audit readiness
Ensure daily operations comply with internal and external control requirements, and prepare documentation to support audits
Utilize the ITW Toolbox and 80/20 philosophy to analyze and simplify finance and accounting processes and workflows
2 year accounting or related degree
Fundamental knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting concepts and terminology
0-5 years of accounts receivable/credit and collections experience with exposure to general accounting and sales and use tax
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective communication skills across functions and levels
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Experience with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP) preferred
Experience with Avalara or similar transactional tax software preferred
Salesforce or other CRM software experience preferred

Compensation Information:
The compensation for this position ranges from $60,000-$75,000 based on relevant education and experience.
