Position Title: Accountant
Department: Finance
Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 + annual bonus
Reports To: Sr. Accounting Manager
Location: Kitchener, Ontario


About the Role:

As an Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Finance and Accounting Department. Your responsibilities will include ensuring accurate and timely payment processing, expense verification, and invoice reconciliation. Additionally, you will contribute to project accounting tasks, supporting the overall objectives of the Finance Department.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding, approvals, and timely payment processing

  • Support project billing activities by preparing customer invoices and monitoring billings against project budgets and contractual milestones

  • Complete monthly project work-in-progress reconciliations and participate in WIP review meetings with key stakeholders

  • Assist with monthly project revenue recognition, financial close activities, and project closeout procedures

  • Support the annual operating plan process, monthly management reporting, and ad hoc financial analysis as required

  • Coordinate employee expense processing through Concur, ensuring submissions are complete, appropriately supported, and accurately recorded

  • Assist with SOX compliance activities, external financial statement preparation, government audits, and corporate tax filings

  • Collaborate with finance and operational teams across other regions, providing accounting support and contributing to shared priorities as needed


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational background in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

  • At least three years of professional accounting experience, ideally within a project-based, construction, engineering, energy, or similarly fast-paced environment

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and confidence working with financial systems, reports, and large data sets

  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting reporting and month-end deadlines

  • Experience using SAP is considered an asset

  • Professional proficiency in Portuguese is strongly preferred

About Canadian Solar EMEA GmbH in Munich

In 2009, Canadian Solar EMEA GmbH was founded and comprises currently of more than 50 employees from 18 different nations. Highly skilled experts represent our team and we are confident to serve our customers. We are a sales organization and can support our sales team from the Munich office within the fields of technical, legal, accounting, marketing, logistics and order fulfillment matters.

Within the EMEA region, we are distinguishing between three different business lines: modules sales, digital solutions and energy business . The first two teams lead from the Munich office, are responsible for the modules sales and digital solutions are finally reporting to CCO Yan Zhuang, responsible for the global sales within Canadian Solar. Globally, the Energy Business Team is led by Arthur Chen and teams are located across Europe in UK and Spain. In the near future Milan will be added. Across all cross-functional departments key personnel is identified as platform to coordinate and support the separate business lines in legal, human resources, accounting and operational matters.
