Role purpose
Take ownership of the day-to-day accounting for our Germany and Switzerland entities, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable and the month-end close. You'll play a key role in ensuring our financial records are accurate, compliant and delivered on time to support group reporting.
Role responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include (but won’t be limited to):
• Manage the accounts payable process, from processing supplier invoices and payment runs to maintaining vendor records and handling employee expense claims.
• Oversee the accounts receivable function, including customer invoicing, cash allocation, credit control and supporting timely collections.
• Support the month-end close by preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, helping to deliver accurate financial reporting across our Germany & Switzerland entities.
• Carry out bank, balance sheet and ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
• Ensure compliance with local accounting and tax regulations across multiple Continental European entities, including intercompany transactions.
• Contribute to VAT filings, audits, year-end activities and wider finance projects, maintaining clear and accurate documentation throughout.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact for finance-related queries.
• Provide finance administration support, including maintaining records, organising documentation, updating systems and helping the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks.
Role requirements
You will make a great match for this role if you have:
• A qualification in accounting, finance or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Around 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and supporting month-end close activities.
• A solid understanding of German accounting principles (HGB) and VAT regulations (USt).
• Experience using ERP systems (NetSuite is a plus), with the confidence to quickly learn new systems and work across multiple entities.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, with experience using functions such as lookups, pivot tables and structured financial reporting.
• Fluent German and business-level English, as you'll collaborate with both local stakeholders and our international finance team.
• A highly organised and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage recurring responsibilities, prioritise deadlines and work independently.
Nice to have’s:
It would be an added bonus if you have:
• Knowledge of German payroll accounting (Lohnbuchhaltung).
• Experience with Swiss accounting, including the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR) and VAT (MWST).
• Previous experience using NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
