Job Title: Accountant
Reporting to: Country Controller South Africa
Location: Centurion, South Africa (Hybrid)
The Accountant is responsible for the delivery of all controllership activities. This role includes Financial Accounting, Reporting (US GAAP and IFRS) and maintenance of the Control environment in line with Corteva policies, procedures and practices.
The Accountant is the main contact between the Service Centers in Asturias and Hyderabad.
The Accountant will also be responsible for the provision of information required by Internal stakeholders (CSR; Commercial; HR; IT and others).
The Accountant is responsible for coordinating all accounting and tax work that is outsourced to external partners.
Main Responsibilities
Ensuring that financial accounting and reporting are in compliance with statutory and corporate requirements. This relates to monthly (CFIN), quarterly and annual reporting and ensuring that all reporting happens within the timelines and deadlines set.
Ensuring that an effective and efficient control environment is in place, in line with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 as well as the Internal Control Standards Manual. This will include but is not limited to Revenue Recognition; Inventory management, Reserve accounting, Accruals and maintaining Internal Control Databases
Review of Financial Statements prepared by external partners, in accordance with IFRS requirements. Liaising with external auditors and taking entity audits to completion.
Acting as a liaison between the local organization and the Service Centers for activities that are centralized and take accountability for the South African balance sheets.
Maintaining and improving accounting processes to make them more relevant and efficient (further automation where possible).
Perform administrative activities on the internal control database.
Provide guidance to the business on internal control processes to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Provide local controllership support on issues relating to fixed assets register and enforcing the controls around fixed assets movement.
Supporting the business in all aspects to ensure that there is a good, stable Control environment in place and highlighting areas of improvement through monitoring and providing feedback to leaders and proactively taking steps to address issues of Control breaches identified.
Attending to ad hoc requests when these arise.
Qualifications & Experience
BComm Degree in Accounting.
At least 4 years experience gained in a manufacturing environment within Finance and Reporting.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and good understanding of US GAAP.
SAP knowledge would be advantageous

Overall understanding of transactional and reporting systems and related interdependencies.
Networking, ability to work with Service Centers that are located internationally.
Multitasks, ability to navigate between different complex matters to quickly identify investigation and resolution paths.
Strong advisor and proponent on Corporate Governance and Ethical behavior.
Strong analytical, process improvement and problem-solving skills.
Strong technology skills using SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and other End user reporting tools.
