The Role and Impact:
The Chief Accounting Office partners across Finance to ensure high-quality accounting, controllership, and financial reporting for treasury-related activities worldwide. The team supports accurate US GAAP-compliant accounting, strong internal controls, and timely reporting for debt, equity, cash management, investments, capital markets transactions, treasury operations, and related financing activities.
This organization works closely with Corporate Treasury, Accounting Policy, External Reporting, Tax, Legal, Corporate Planning, Investor Relations, shared service teams, banking partners, and business finance teams to ensure treasury and capital structure activities are appropriately reflected in the financial statements and supported by scalable, well-controlled processes.
This team lead role is a key leader responsible for the accounting, reporting, controllership, and operational execution of workstreams related to debt, equity, and cash management activities. This role provides leadership across recurring close and reporting processes, transaction support, account reconciliations, financial statement support, controls, and process improvement initiatives, while helping ensure a strong and scalable operating model across treasury accounting activities. This role partners closely with Corporate Treasury, Accounting Policy, External Reporting, Tax, Legal, Corporate Planning, Investor Relations, shared service teams, banking and treasury operations partners, and auditors to ensure treasury accounting is accurate, timely, compliant, and supported by strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate accounting and reporting activities across debt, equity, and cash management workstreams.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, prioritization, and execution support for team deliverables, recurring close responsibilities, and project-based work.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability across assigned workstreams while fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Partner effectively across matrixed teams and stakeholders to align priorities, resolve issues, and ensure consistent execution.
- Support team capability building through coaching, knowledge sharing, process discipline, and development of technical treasury accounting expertise.
- Oversee and support the accounting and reporting for debt-related transactions, including borrowings, repayments, accrued interest, amortization of issuance costs and discounts, and related balance sheet and income statement activity.
- Review and guide preparation of accounting schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, and roll forwards related to short-term and long-term debt instruments.
- Support accounting analyses for debt issuances, refinancing transactions, debt modifications, extinguishments, and other financing arrangements.
- Ensure debt accounting results are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with US GAAP, company policy, and treasury accounting procedures.
- Partner with Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Accounting Policy to support proper accounting treatment and execution for debt-related transactions.
- Oversee and support the accounting and reporting for equity-related transactions, including share issuances, repurchases, capital contributions, treasury stock activity, and other capital structure changes.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to equity accounts, including shareholders' equity balances and rollforwards.
- Lead and support accounting and controllership for cash management-related activities, including cash positioning support, bank activity accounting, intercompany cash movements, and treasury operational transactions.
- Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting schedules associated with cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash, and other treasury-managed cash balances.
- Lead and review monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to debt, equity, and cash management accounting.
- Oversee account reconciliations, variance analyses, reporting schedules, and supporting workpapers tied to treasury balances and financing activity.
- Support SOX compliance, control testing, walkthroughs, audit requests, and remediation follow-up related to treasury accounting activities.
- Support analysis of debt balances, interest expense, financing costs, equity movements, cash activity, and capital structure impacts to explain period-over-period changes.
- Assist with forecast support related to treasury accounting impacts, financing activity, liquidity management, and cash-related accounting outcomes.
- Prepare management reporting and analytical summaries for treasury and finance leadership as needed.
- Lead efforts to simplify, standardize, and modernize treasury accounting processes across debt, equity, and cash management workstreams.
- Use AI and digital tools to improve the efficiency, quality, and scalability of recurring activities such as reconciliations, variance analysis, journal entry support, documentation management, close checklists, and reporting preparation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in accounting operations with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years with a Master's degree.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills such as Power Query or Pivot Tables.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, such as SAP ECC or SAP S4/HANA, including module design and process mapping.
- Demonstrated technical agility and analytical skills in resolving complex accounting issues.
- Experience in treasury accounting, corporate accounting, controllership, financial reporting, or close support.
- Experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting support, and control execution.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and corporate accounting processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting debt accounting, equity accounting, cash management accounting, treasury accounting, capital markets transactions, or financing-related accounting.
- Familiarity with accounting concepts such as interest expense accruals, debt issuance costs, debt modifications/extinguishments, treasury stock, APIC, equity roll forwards, bank activity accounting, and cash reconciliations.
- Experience with SOX controls, audit support, and process documentation.
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA or ECC, treasury management systems, subledgers, or other finance systems supporting treasury operations.
- Experience leading or materially contributing to automation, digital transformation, data analytics, AI-enabled workflow tools, or process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to identify high-value use cases for AI-assisted transformation while maintaining strong governance and accounting quality.
- Membership in professional accounting organizations such as CPA Australia, ACCA, or MICPA.
- Experience managing teams and driving results through leadership excellence.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to navigate cross-functional and multicultural environments.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to embrace new tools and methodologies to enhance execution and process improvement.
