Role Purpose
Silvertreebrands is looking for a capable and detail-oriented Accountant to support the finance function, with primary responsibility for UCOOK management accounting and reporting, as well as accounting oversight for 2 smaller group companies.

This role is suited to a commercially aware finance professional with strong accounting fundamentals, sound transaction processing experience, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced operating environment. The successful candidate will also manage a small team and contribute to the integrity, timeliness, and quality of financial information across the relevant entities.

Key Responsibilities

The Accountant will be responsible for:

• Owning the preparation and delivery of month-end management accounts for UCOOK, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
• Preparing and maintaining management accounting reports, KPI reporting, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Taking responsibility for accounting across selected smaller group companies
• Processing and reviewing transactions in Acumatica (A mid-tier ERP system)
• Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of financial records and general ledger balances
• Supporting and driving month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintaining strong financial controls and disciplined transaction processing
  Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and following up on outstanding items
• Assisting with inventory-related accounting, including trading inventory movements, controls and corrections
• Performing variance analysis and investigating unusual movements, trends, and reporting exceptions
• Managing the audit process across relevant entities, including preparation of audit deliverables, coordination with internal stakeholders and external auditors, and ensuring timely resolution of audit queries
• Supporting the progression and close-out of open audit items and historical audit workstreams, helping bring these to conclusion in a structured and well-managed way
• Working closely with operational and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting quality
• Identifying and solving accounting and process-related problems in a practical, hands-on way
• Managing and supporting 3 direct reports
• Contributing to ongoing finance process improvements and ERP-related best practice

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate with the following background:

• A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Around 5 years’ working experience in an accounting role
• Experience in businesses operating in wholesale, retail, or agriculture would be advantageous
• Experience working in businesses with trading inventory is strongly preferred
  Management accounting exposure is important
• Membership of CIMA or a similar professional body would be advantageous
• Experience using Acumatica (or another mid-tier ERP system) would be highly beneficial

Technical Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Strong accounting and transaction processing experience
• A solid grasp of basic to intermediate accounting principles
• Experience with management accounting and reporting
• Confidence working with financial data at both detailed transaction level and summary reporting level
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong numerical and mathematical ability
• Good understanding of reconciliations, controls, and financial accuracy
• Ability to work with ERP systems effectively and accurately
• Willingness to incorporate AI into your workflow

This role includes management responsibility for 3 direct reports
