About Houston-Galveston Area Council

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?

üMonitor and review grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and regulations for various State and Federal funded grants

üEnter and maintain project budgets, budget amendments, and budget adjustments; monitor expenses versus budgets to assist program staff with project oversight

üPrepare and submit timely requests for reimbursements to grantor agencies

üPrepare and submit grant manual billings and monthly adjusting journal entries as needed

üPrepare and submit timely interim and final closeout financial reports to grantor agencies

üMaintain monthly grant schedule of expenditures and monthly grant AR reconciliation for assigned grants

Key Qualifications

üKnowledge of Governmental Accounting principles

üStrong verbal and written communication skills

üDetail oriented

üAbility to accurately perform multiple tasks & prioritize deadlines

üProficient in Microsoft Office software applications

Do you have…

üBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related business field

ü3 years of experience working with local government and/or nonprofit programs
