Department: Finance and Bus Resources (FIN)

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: San Antonio

Reporting To:

This position is responsible for mid-level accounting processes, reporting, and accurate record keeping in assigned areas.

Mid-level position – Generally has more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Prepares monthly and year-end financial statements and journals
  • Adhere to all Company deadlines and reporting requirements as set by management or from Federal, State, and local rules and regulations
  • Investigates and resolves balance sheet reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Provides accounting assistance to senior management /business units and respond to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs
  • Prepare internal financial reports and complete special projects as assigned by Finance Managers and Leadership
  • Assists with identifying risk by evaluating compliance and makes appropriate recommendations where necessary
  • Works safely at all times, and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of business accounting principles, budget preparation, and strong business acumen
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) as it applies to the industry and company
  • Working knowledge in the use of computer programs and systems utilized by the company (DBS, CODA, Sage100c, Clarity, Microsoft Dynamics, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong research, problem solving and investigation skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including both written and oral
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational, planning, multi-tasking, and time management skills, deadline oriented
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • Three years of related work experience required; six years preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Travel:
  • Up to 5%
Physical Requirements:
  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
  • This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 15lbs.
Work Environment:
  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment
  • Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
